Prophet Lot (Alaihis salam) was the nephew of Prophet Abraham (peace be upon him). With his uncle, he also migrated from the ‘Babel’ of the birthplace of the city and came to Kanan near Baitul Mukaddas. Allah gave the Prophethood to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and sent a few miles away from the Jordan to see the people of the ‘Sondum’ region between Jordan and Baitul Mukaddas. There were five major cities in the area named Sondum, Amura, Dumma, Sha’bah and Sha’wah.
In the Qur’an, there is a description of the ‘Muttafaqah’ (Najm 53/53) or ‘Muftafakat’ (Taubah 9/70, Haqqah 69/9) in different places. Which means ‘cities turning upside downtown’. Among these five cities Saddam (سدوم) was the largest and Saddam was considered the capital. Prophet Lot (peace be upon him) stayed here. The land here was fertile and grainy. There was abundance of all kinds of crops and fruits. These historical data have been described in several Tafseer texts. All agree about ‘Sodum’. There are differences in names of the remaining cities, three of them, four or six, the number of people living in them, some number of lives, or some lakhs. These are the descriptions of the people of Israel, which can only be taken as the object of history. In the Qur’an and Hadith, only the description of the main subject has come, which is a learning for mankind.
It is to be noted that in Lot 15 (Surah Al-Awwal), the verses of the Holy Qur’an are narrated in 87 verses.
The Message of Lut (as)
The people of Lut (as) left the worship of Allah and shuddered and disbelieved. Being promoted to the ultimate peak of worldly development, they became a transgressing nation. Like the previously destroyed nations, they fluttered in the ultimate luxury. Unjust practices and various evils became their inherent habit. They even engaged in dirt like homosexuality or homosexuality, which were not seen in any of the nations before. Allah sent Lut (al-‘Abbas) to guide the people who were worse and more stubborn than animals. In the Qur’an, when Lot was said to be ‘his brother’ (Shu’ara 26/161), he was also there in the Muhajir. Because of the relationship of the Prophet and the Ummah he has been called ‘his brother’. He came to them and invited them to Tauhid like the previous prophets, and said,
